My partner and I have been patients at this practice for over 14 years. Dr Bobby Abbott has been always extremely kind and helpful. Getting an appointment as not been difficult but I only ever want to see Dr Bobby Abbott so that can bring with it some delay. Receptionists are always nice and helpful. He diagnosed my partner with a very complicated illness before any consultant. His treament and prgnonsi was excellent. I have worked in social care for over 28 years and dealt with many GP's this practice is excellent. I have seen the negative reviews but perhaps this could be about there approach as I have witnessed some very rude people at the surgery. Mike Kent

You need to be on death bed for this surgery to consider as urgent appointment needed.

Have to agree the receptionists used to be horrible, they have made so many mistakes, clueless and are so rude. They seem to have nicer ladies on the phone now. The two main Abbott Drs are good and Dr Fletcher but the rest are terrible. The NHS service as a whole is pretty poor these days, but if something is serious the Drs are good at fast referral.

If ever person wants to enter a profession that cares for people, these are NOT these doctors. If ever a person wants to enter into general practice to make money, these are the doctors!!! Members of my family and I have been referred to specialist yet we have to chase and follow up to get that care we need.We always feel, we do not get the care or medication we need because the pennies are being saved for the Mercedes. My father suffers from dementia. The lack of empathy is shocking.Bring back "real caring" doctors. D r F o r d He had heart of gold.

I have been a patient since SMC opened therefore count myself well within my rights to write this review. It started wonderfully, but the last two years have shown a progressive and negative change to how I have been treated by staff. I no longer feel comfortable calling the surgery and absolutely not speaking to reception in person or seeing the majority of the doctors. Two years ago I began to suffer immensely with my mental health which had subsequent physical symptoms which I could not handle without medication. I was prescribed anti-depressants which exacerbated my particular symptoms but the surgery's response was simply to continue to increase my dosage instead of, as I requested, evaluating me to check my diagnosis as well as make sure I was on the correct medication for my body. This has continued for two years. I have had several instances where I've called up in an absolute state to try to book an appointment and have not only been treated like a nuisance, but when I explained I'm having panic attacks I was dismissed and talked down to like a child. In person, when I have been unable to pick up my medication I have been belittled in front of the full reception area whilst weeping from the stress of my mental and physical symptoms. I have been told to "just take deep breaths" and and "I can refer you for CBT" (which I have already received and does not fully manage and does not treat my conditions.) I have had my partner in the room to try to help convey that I am not coping with deep breathing, mindfulness, or doing things that make me happy, but the doctors we have seen have been progressively more dismissive. The fact I have chest pains and palpitations (I also have a minor heart condition) exacerbated by my mental health has not prompted more than a motion to calm myself during panic episodes. I have had to be signed off work for weeks at a time to "rest" but have been dismissed when I've asked for help or, at the least, an evaluation. The other major failing is one I am finally having addressed after years of suffering. I have chronic tonsillitis; I have the infection on average once every two months and it can be debilitating. I have been speaking to doctors at SMC for years about the frequency and ferocity of the infections. I found out some months ago I have been lied to about the requirements for a tonsillectomy. I had two emergency hospital visits due to this and all the doctors I've seen in hospital are astonished I have not had them removed yet. Only with two strongly worded letters from two hospitals have the SMC finally referred me. Due to currently available information, I should have been referred years ago.I have been humiliated by several of the receptionists at SMC and treated like a child and an inconvenience by the doctors. I am finally able to be taken seriously by doctors, but only by the benefits of my career. The treatment I have received has caused me immense physical and emotional pain for the past yearsThis review has also been posted to the NHS review website.
