I've lived in Croydon for quite a while now and like most people remember Orchard Park from its Edenham days. I'm pleasantly surprised by the focus on academics and learning at the school. Impressive head boy and girl too. There are some very good teachers there now & it is well worth considering if you have school-aged kids.
Slightly ticked off parent. I am slightly tired of some parents leaving comments about uniform. It is so obvious that the school is trying to enforce a policy that sets the tone for an improved learning environment, where students are expected to come to school looking smart and ready to learn. If you have a policy then, to be fair and consistent, you have to stick to it so everyone is clear of the high standard expected. Why don't you just dress your children as per the policy, which makes them nice and smart and ready to learn rather than moaning and complaining about little things you could easily rectify. If a sock is such a non issue then send them to school in the right socks!!! I remember Edenham and the students used to look really scruffy. They now not only look smart but look proud to belong to Orchard Park. My kids are really happy to be there and far from it being a dictatorship, it offers high standards in an incredibly supportive and nurturing learning environment. The behaviour in the school is excellent. Don't listen to the petty complaints about uniform, this school is going places.
Don't believe everything you read- these are people with an axe to grind as is always the case! The changes to the school are long overdue and they have made a significant improvement to the school. All schools have to have rules and I am glad to see the school holding firm to its rules. It is up to us parents to ensure are kids follow the rules instead of moaning about them.The teaching has also improved since the new management took over and even the kids know that now. We live in the local community and everything that has changed, even the behaviour has been brilliant. The staff have done a great job in turning the school around and I have nothing only praise and good things to say about the place. I would recommend the school to other parents. Staff are helpful, friendly and approachable. Keep up the great work and well done everyone.
If you are looking for school all I could do would advise you not to go to this school one bit it the worse school the school has done nothing to help my son there just talk but it shame there never follow thought anything there say I wish I took my son out it has got worse since the new head teacher has join the school it seems to me bye putting kids outside office is going to help them do good with no work in front of them is helping them it mess the school and joke so all I do is advise you dont send them as my son has gone there and done nothing for him apart from meeting and there done nothing it got lot to answer for
Do not send your children here! The Head cares more about the colour of your childs bag than their education. All shes interested in is making herself look good, she has no regard for the children and dismisses parents concerns. She needs to be removed before she damages more childrens educations.
